Press Release

Dunham Law opens new Northampton office - 06/03/2010
Dunham Law has opened a new office in Swan Valley, Northampton, ensuring its two newest recruits will feel very much at home.

The firm has welcomed Douglas Iles (previously head of corporate at Tollers) and John Punni (previously a commercial property partner, also with Tollers). Both Douglas and John join Dunham Law as equity partners and will be based in the firm’s new Northampton office.

At a time when many law firms are finding the market conditions rather challenging, Dunham Law is proud to continue with its exciting aggressive growth strategy.

Dean Dunham, managing partner at Dunham Law, commented: “We are delighted that Douglas and John, along with members of their previous teams, have joined us. Their arrival has significantly strengthened the firm, in particular our corporate and commercial property offering”

The new recruits were previously based in Northamptonshire and allow Dunham Law to continue to build on the strong relationships which Douglas and John have in the local business community, as well as the links which the firm itself has already established in the county.

Douglas and John join the firm’s existing partners Dean Dunham (founder and managing partner, who started the firm in 2004 after leaving Shoosmiths), Fiona Button (previously of Thomsons Solicitors, London), Gary Smith (previously of City firm Macfarlanes and Shoosmiths), Phillip Adam (previously with local government and Kidd Rapinet), Keith Lewington (previously an equity partner with Shoosmiths) and Ray Sothcott.

In addition to the current new appointments, the firm is also now actively seeking to recruit further corporate solicitors, commercial property solicitors, employment solicitors and dispute resolution solicitors in both offices.

“We are seeking to recruit between 15-20 new fee earners across the two offices, from newly qualified to partner level, over the next 12 months,” said Mr Dunham. “We are an exciting, vibrant young firm, where the profit per equity partner is attractive to new recruits.

“To mark our new aggressive strategy for the forthcoming 12 months, Dunham Law has also re-branded and launched a new website.”

The firm has also once again been recognised by the Legal 500 as one of the leading firms in the region for Corporate and Commercial, Employment Law and Commercial Property.

The company also runs a training programme in both Commercial and Employment Law, led by Keith Lewington, and comprising courses for clients on various commercial matters, including data protection and directors’ duties, while Fiona Button, the firm's Head of Employment, conducts employment courses, in matters such as the law on employing staff and redundancy.
